CTLS Gradebook Support
Resubmissions can be a helpful way to support learning, but they should be used with purpose. A teacher may allow a student to resubmit an assignment when the student has made a genuine attempt, reviewed feedback, and is using the opportunity to improve understanding.
Goal: Resubmissions should not simply be used to raise a grade without new learning. Students should make clear, meaningful changes based on feedback before submitting again.
Overview
Teachers may allow resubmissions when the revision helps clarify student understanding, correct misunderstandings, or strengthen an important skill. Resubmissions work best when they are part of the learning process, not a last-minute fix. Resubmissions should happen throughout the term, not only during breaks or near the end of the course. When teachers review work, provide feedback, and allow timely revisions, students have a better chance to correct misunderstandings while the learning is still fresh. Waiting until the end of the term can turn resubmissions into grade recovery instead of meaningful revision.
